Dec 2012      Hindalco Hot Mill Start Up

On 10pm on Christmas eve the Blue Fox roughing mill rolled the first slab.  9 passes reduced the slab from approx 570mm thick to 120 mm. The tandem finishing mill is being cold tested ready for rolling in the next few weeks.

Oct 2012      Used Plant Instruction from TATA (UK)

As a result of the closure of the 2 million TPA, Bloom and Billet mill at TATA’s Scunthorpe facility, TATA (UK) have instructed a consortium of CJM Asset Management, GoIndustry-Dovebid and Parkegate Ltd to dispose of the assets.

Oct 2012      On-Line Inspection Systems Order for Aluminium Mills

Samsung Engineering have selected Parkegate to undertake the mechanical design of two Surface Quality Measuring Systems, one for a Hot Strip Mill and one for a Tandem Cold Mill. Due to the nature of the working environment for these inspection sytems, it will be necessary to liaise closely with the mill builder, sensor supplier and end user, to optimise the design and subsequent system performance.

Oct 2012      Parkegate Apprentices

During the first year of their training Parkegate apprentices only work in the company during college holidays. In October this year it was therefore a chance not to be missed to take a photo of all the apprentices in the office at one time.

It is very pleasing and promising for the future that Parkegate now have an apprentice in all the 1st three years of their four year training program.  From left to right in the photo on the left, we have Charlie Harris (year 1), Bradley Heath (year 2) and Ben Eyers (year 3).

Parkegate are very proud to be able to support new generations of engineers and know that with committed apprentices such as these, the future will be in safe hands.

Jun 2012      SMS Siemag AG acquires Parkegate company

As of 1 April 2012, Parkegate are pleased to confirm that they became a fully owned SMS Group company following the company’s acquisition by SMS Siemag AG.

Since their establishment in 1996, Parkegate have successfully offered the supply of new plant and equipment upgrades for rolling mills and process lines in both the ferrous and non-ferrous industries. The full range of these services, covering engineering, modernisation, studies and relocation of existing equipment, will continue under the new ownership, backed by the strength of SMS Siemag AG.

With a strong synergy to their existing business, the acquisition of Parkegate strengthens the position of SMS Siemag AG as the leading metallurgical plant supplier.

Jan 2012     Used Plant Sale - Continuous Casting Lines

Parkegate Engineering in association with their partners CJM Asset Management has recently concluded the sale of three Wertli horizontal Continuous Casting lines from The Schwerte facility of Deutsche Nickel. Each of the lines is designed to cast two strands of 450 x 15-16mm copper -nickel alloys simultaneously through a segmented graphite die. Each strand is handled separately with its own dedicated strip puller, surface milling, cutting and coiling equipment.

The 3 lines have been sold to a Korean end user through McMillan Conroy Machinery International Ltd and are currently being dismantled. The lines will be reinstalled in South Korea.
