Dec 2010      Aluminium Foil Mill Upgrade project won

Parkegate are pleased to announce that they have been selected by Hindalco to work on the relocation and upgrading of two Foil mills from Novelis Bridgnorth, UK, to Hindalco Mouda site in India.
The upgrading of the two mills is required in order to enable the future processing of wider coils and to permit the use of 660 mm diameter Cold Mill spools, as currently used at the Indian site. The engineering to upgrade the equipment will be Parkegate’s responsibility and the scope of work includes for the mechanical as well as the associated fluids and electrical functions, interfaces, and the required civils modifications.
The upgrade of each mill will cover a range of equipment including the entry and exit coil handling, decoilers, entry table including trimmer, exit table, strip shape and gauge measurement,  ironing roll, coiler, and spool handling systems.
In addition to the engineering, Parkegate will also be supplying the mechanical equipment element of the project along with technical supervision of installation and commissioning of the modifications and new equipment.
Start up on site is currently scheduled for September 2011.

Dec 2010      On-line Auction Success

CJM Asset management and Parkegate Engineering have concluded a very successful on-line auction for a range of tube processing equipment on behalf of Tata UK (Corby).  10 of the 12 lots were sold at price levels that exceeded the target prices.

Dec 2010      14th Middle East Iron & Steel Conference

Phil Thomas and Charles Moses of CJM Asset Management, our partner in the Valuation and Sales of used metals processing assets recently attended the 14th Iron & Steel conference where Parkegate/CJM were exhibitors. This prestigious conference was held in Dubai on 13-15th December 2010 and attracted over 600 delegates from around the world..

Nov 2010      Steel Company of the Philipines engage Parkegate for Cold Mill bid evaluation

Recognising Parkegates experience and knowlegde base, SCP have employed Parkegate to evaluate the bids received for their upcoming new Cold Reversing mill project. The contract covers a full technical evaluation including consideration of the operating efficiency, operating cost and productivity of the equipment offered.

Nov 2010      Successful commissioning of Ironing Roll upgrade at TLM in Croatia

The first of a two stage upgrade project saw the successful addition of a constant force Ironing Roll to the thin strip mill at TLM. The head comprises of a dual roll arrangement; a steel roll for the breakdown passes and a polyurethane covered roll for the thinner, finishing passes. With proportional hydraulic control the ironing force is maintained constant throughout the entire coil build up. With control of the ironing force level and steering provided through the PLC system, straight coil wall build up is assured. The second part of the project will see the upgrading of the intermediate foil mill exit table in December. Sept 2010     TATA Steel select Parkegate to perform mill study

As with all established operations, TATA Steel are looking at ways to improve their operations and productivity and this mill study will be looking at a number of alternatives with respect to optimising the performance of the cold rolling operation. Based on the relative benifits of each scheme, TATA Steel will be able to make an informed decision on the best way forward for their business.  

July 2010       Expansion at Parkegate

On the back of a recent order from HIndalco, which will see the installation of the first Hot Mill for canstock in India, Parkegate have recently expanded their engineering capability and capacity with the addition of more than 120 man years of experience in the metals industry.
Engineering specialists, Parkegate, have not only strengthened their engineering team with the addition of Trevor Annels (Project Engineer), and Nick Saunders (Fluids Engineer) but have also bolstered the sales team with the arrival of Robert Hiscock (Sales Manager) and Paul Osborne (Sales and Business Development Manager).
All with a long history at Siemens VAI, the new recruits bring a wide range of skills to Parkegate covering mechanical and fluids design, rolling process, sales, marketing, and project management. Couple this with their experience in the sale and execution of an extensive range of projects worldwide, the new recruits will enhance the capabilities of the existing Parkegate team moving forward.
